1. Beamtime proposal deadline for 2009-2 cycle
Beamtime proposals to apply for time in May-August 2009 must be submitted to the Australian Synchrotron portal by 24 February.

Proposals are being accepted for the following beamlines in the 2009-2 cycle:
Protein crystallography (PX1 and PX2) | Merit and Preferred Access |
Powder diffraction | Merit and Preferred Access |
IR (microscope and spectrometer) | Merit and Preferred Access |
Small- and wide-angle x-ray scattering | Merit and Preferred Access |
X-ray fluorescence microscopy | Merit and Preferred Access |
Soft x-ray spectroscopy | Merit Access only |
X-ray absorption spectroscopy | Merit Access only |

2. New Zealand Synchrotron Users’ Meeting – call for abstracts
The second New Zealand Synchrotron Users’ Meeting will be held on 20-21 April in Wellington. We strongly encourage all users who have received beamtime at the Australian Synchrotron or funding from NZSG to travel to other facilities to present some of their results to the wider community.
The meeting will comprise some overview talks for new users, presentations from Australian Synchrotron staff, and current users. Registration is free and some travel assistance may be available to students and post-docs.
